Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is a gateway to enter into the profession

of Chartered Accountancy. CPT is open for candidates who have registered

for the Common Proficiency Course with the Board of Studies of the Institute

on or before the last date for registration and have appeared or passed or

going to appear in October/November in 12th class or equivalent recognised

examination. This is an objective type examination of 200 marks comprising

four sections. These Guidance Notes are exclusively meant for Paper-Pencil

Mode CPT. As per decision of the Council of the ICAI, candidates with certain

higher qualifications are also eligible to appear in CPT.
